Green Building - Conference 2009

About Green Building conference

a-green A building is demanding in terms of materials and transport. It uses energy and its location defines how people behave. The majority of buildings have a considerable impact on the environment. Buildings that reduce environmental and financial impacts are now becoming standard in other countries.

a-green Why has the Czech Republic tended to watch that trend from afar with a degree of mistrust? What prevents the expansion of green buildings in projects here? Are Czech professionals and experts as progressive in their thinking and know-how as experts in other countries?

a-green Those and other questions will be addressed by two panel discussions:

Architectural, technical and social aspects of green buildings and the economic aspects of green buildings.

a-green The event will take place on 26 March 2009 from 3.00 to 7.15 p.m. at the American Center (Tržiště 13, Prague 1), and will offer a broad overview of those issues. In addition to the traditional architectural and technical aspects, the event will also look at the financial and social aspects of green buildings.

a-green The discussions will aim to share experience in the construction of green buildings between experts and professionals and promote their expansion in the Czech Republic. The event should also raise awareness of incentives for green buildings that have worked well in other countries on a long-term basis, and it should prompt a discussion of the option of introducing them in the Czech Republic. Leading Czech and foreign experts in the fields of architecture, energy, development, finance and public administration have confirmed their participation in the discussions.

a-green The panel discussions are aimed primarily at architects, civil engineers, developers, financial institutions that provide credit for building projects, officials from the public administration, and other related sectors. The discussions are also open to students and anyone else who is interested.
The event is being held under the auspices of the British Council by the “Climate Advocates” team, which is part of the Challenge Europe initiative to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
If you are interested in reducing the environmental impacts of buildings, take this opportunity to learn new information and find inspiration with the help of practical examples from this country and abroad, and discover the rules, positive aspects and pitfalls of green buildings.

We look forward to seeing you there!
